CAAHEP logoThe Massasoit Community College Paramedic Program earned accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) in May of 2017.

The Paramedic is a health care professional that cares for those injured or suddenly taken ill in the pre-hospital setting. The Paramedic Program is an eighteen month program that includes classroom, in hospital clinical rotations and field internships. The program prepares the student to practice in the field and to be eligible for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician’s (EMT) Paramedic certification exam.


  • To provide individuals with career preparation associated with Entry-Level and Advanced Practitioner Paramedic care competencies with consideration of the needs and expectations of the program's communities of interest
  • To provide a curriculum that leads to eligibility for the national credentialing process, entry into the Massachusetts licensure process, and employment in Para medicine
  • To promote the development of those intellectual skills that foster critical thinking and problem solving that are necessary for life-long learning
  • To provide students with the skills necessary to communicate effectively within the healthcare community
  • To promote the development of life- long professional attitudes and values

The Paramedic Certificate program is a selective admissions program.

The potential candidate must complete the Paramedic Program Application and the Massasoit Community College Application

National Registry certification allows for reciprocity in most of the United States.

Salary Outlook
According to the Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS), the national average salary is $50,835 per year (2016).
